Organizing a Kitchen for Storage Efficiency

Put Pots and Pans in Their Places
Cookware takes more cabinet space and is used more often than anything else in the kitchen. Well-planned storage of these items not only saves time and work, it eliminates frustration.
A frequent complaint is that pots and pans seem to multiply. If you are one of those who find that you are constantly rearranging and restocking them, here are some storage ideas that should help keep cookware where you want it.
- Move some of the saucepans away from the range to cabinets near the sink. Since water often is poured into a saucepan before it is used, this is a convenient location.
- A pull-out or rolling pegboard divider fitted into a narrow cabinet creates a spot to hang pans.
- A decorate wire rack mounted on a kitchen wall provides more pan storage space.
- Base cabinets should be equipped with pull-out shelves rather than stationary ones, so bending over and reaching is minimized.
- Pan lids stay corralled in a shallow bin attached to the inside of the cabinet door, or in bins created by dividing a deep drawer into compartments.
