Determining How to Apply Tiles

The most common methods of application are to use adhesives, or staple or nail to wood furring strips.

If the ceiling is made of sound plaster, gypsum board or other material that provides a sound, smooth, continuous backing, ceiling tiles can be applied with adhesives.

If the ceiling has exposed joists, cracked plaster, or any other unsound surface, furring strips should be applied and the tiles nailed or stapled to the furring strips.
